PATH is currently recruiting for a Program Officer to lead and expand the portfolio of work which covers hypertension, diabetes and women’s cancers. This position has secured funding for 8 months and we are actively pursuing opportunities to allow for extension.

PATH’s Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) Program is an exciting program at PATH that has been growing steadily and gaining momentum over the last three years (http://www.path.org/our-work/noncommunicable-diseases.php). Our goal is to improve access to prevention, screening, and care for NCDs and we target diabetes, hypertension, and breast and cervical cancers.

The project officer will report to the Global Program Leader for Non-communicable Diseases and will focus her efforts on advancing PATH’s NCD Strategy and delivering with quality, working efficiently and optimizing new opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Support the implementation of PATH’s NCD strategy.
Provide technical guidance on project design and implementation, leading proposal writing efforts.
Establish and manage international stakeholder relations including those with funding partners.
Work collaboratively across technical disciplines, programs and countries to produce timely, high-quality deliverables.
Manage project implementation.
Develop communication tools, presentations, background information and reports.
Contribute to the preparation and review of project reports, publications, proposals, and others, as required.
Represent PATH in international conferences, if required.

Required Experience

Master’s degree in public health, health policy, business administration, or similar plus seven (7) years of experience in non-communicable diseases program in/for developing countries. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Solid technical knowledge of non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes and / or cardiovascular disease.
Ability to adapt and work under various working conditions.
Strong organizational and management skills, e.g., setting priorities and completing tasks on time and on budget.
Must have experience working for or collaborating with government ministries, local and national NGOs, and/or multilateral agencies.
Solid technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
New business development, especially proposal writing.
Strong project planning and management capability.
Skilled in project monitoring and evaluation techniques
Ability to develop and maintain close and effective relationships with partnering organizations at local, national, and international levels.
Proven effectiveness working in a team-based environment, but capable also of managing one’s own time.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 30% of the time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Commitment to increasing the profile of NCDs in the global health field.
