Open to international candidates [unaccompanied] and national candidates from Kenya and Ethiopia .Based in either Kenya or Ethiopia

Following the recent famine crisis in the East and Horn of Africa Region, HelpAge’s International’s Africa Regional office through country teams and partners, are delivering integrated cash transfer program to address the immediate food, nutrition and livelihoods needs for older women and men in Ethiopia, Kenya and South Sudan. HelpAge International is therefore seeking to fill the following position.

He/she will be responsible for managing and coordinating the regional response in Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia.

The post-holder will have 5-7 years’ humanitarian experience in an international NGO preferably a regional position within a multi-cultural setting, experience in developing collaborative partnerships, managing multi-sector emergency projects funded by institutional donors, a good understanding of donor compliance as well as experience in collaborating with and supporting international/local partner organisations. A strong understanding and commitment to core humanitarian standards, principles, instruments, frameworks and protocols, and codes of conduct that governs humanitarian action is essential to this role as is experience of working in insecure environments.

Technical/Programmatic
 Minimum 6 years’ proven experience in Managing Emergency projects funded by institutional donors (DFID, DEC, EU) and very
good understanding of donor compliance
 Minimum of Bachelor degree in Disaster/ humanitarian studies, Development studies, International relations, Agriculture, social
sciences and other related fields.
 Experience of collaborating with and supporting international/local partner organisations and ability in dealing
with donors and partners
 Technical and managerial competence in the design of needs assessments, programme development, implementation,
monitoring of impact of humanitarian programs
Good experience in implementing Cash transfer in emergencies
 Experience with NGOs procedures, approaches and operations
 Understanding of humanitarian principles, core humanitarian
standards and specific sector standards
 Experience of working insecure environments
 Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
 A strong understanding and commitment to core humanitarian standards, principles, instruments, frameworks and protocols, and codes of conduct that govern humanitarian action
 Experience in Humanitarian Advocacy ad influencing
 Strong project and budget management experience, including use of planning and performance monitoring tools
 Reasonable experience of working with wide range of donors including DFID, UN organisations, EC, and other institutional and private donors
 Experience in managing partners and ability to provide guidance and develop capacity of field staff on the same
