Lutheran World Federation/World Service Kenya/Djibouti Program is seeking to recruit a Kenyan national internal employee for the above position, to be based in Dadaab Refugee Camp. The Social Worker will be responsible for providing services to older persons in the refugee camps. He/she will report directly to the Camp Social Officer, while working closely on a daily basis in collaboration with other sectors of LWF in ensuring that a multi-disciplinary approach is observed in provision of services to older persons.

Purpose of the Position:
 
1. Carry out assessment of older persons at the social field offices in the camps to establish individual needs and inform on appropriate support
2. Maintain links with community leaders and provide timely and accurate information on all camp services to the community
3. Capacity builds and supervises the community social service supervisors in all their duties at the social field offices.
4. Conduct outreach services to identify and facilitate assistance to vulnerable older persons at block level.
5. Facilitate interagency referrals for vulnerable older persons as well as carry out follow ups and provide prompt feedbacks on referred cases to responsible agencies
6. Establish and maintain a database of older persons assessed and reached with services at the social field offices and in the camps.
7. Supervising and participating in issuing basic Non Food Items to vulnerable persons and keeping records on all distributed NFI’s and list of bon fide beneficiaries in hard and soft copies.
8. Carry out home visits and following-up and referring vulnerable older persons to stakeholders for specific support.
9. Collaborate with other team members in implementation of project activities.
10. Participate in report writing, concept notes and proposal development
11. Carry out Voluntary repatriation PSN assessment
12. Assisting with any other related activities as deemed necessary by the Community Service sector and/or the organization
Professional Qualification: 
Diploma/University degree in Social work, Community development, Disaster Management Sociology or Counselling Psychology

Skills and competencies: 
 
Computer Knowledge in Microsoft Office is a requirement
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience in working with older persons or Persons with specific needs will be an added advantage
At least 2 years of progressive experience as a Social Worker.
Experience gained working with an International Humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage.
Proficiency in English and Kiswahili language both written and spoken.

Excellent communication, time management, organization and presentation skills.
