The Risk & Credit Officer will work with the Chief Finance Officer to design, implement, and scale credit sales for a range of products.

These include farming inputs that reduce cost and increase revenues for farmers.

Main Responsibilities: –

  • Evaluate and advice on client’s ability to pay based on analysis of their finances.
  • Follow up with credit customers on repayments and ensure Accounts are up to date.
  • Obtain credit information from credit reference bureaus on customer credit history to assist in decision making.
  • Reporting to partners and management on the portfolio.
  • Creation and implementation of credit policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring the portfolio including follow up of non-performing loans, liaising with credit review bodies and analysis plus recommendation of the same.
  • Analyze, advise and ensure recovery of defaulted loans.
  • Undertake timely recovery actions through effective communication and negotiate with customers on their past due facilities while ensuring that subsequent actions on the facilities, if required, are not unduly delayed.
  • Ensure effective loan collection and default management policies and procedures are in place.
  • Maintaining records of all outstanding Loans.
  • Enhance the client experience through accurate and timely resolution of client issues.
  • Training staff on credit management of our portfolio to ensure proper vetting of clients by all relevant departments.
  • Ensure compliance with the lending policies and guidelines.
  • Regular update of the credit policy based on industry trends and developments.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, banking, economics, statistics or related field.
  • Credit certification will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ credit experience in a in credit and preferably from an MFI/bank and in Agriculture lending.
  • Candidates with experience in the microfinance sector will have an added advantage.
