Overall Job Function
Under the supervision of the County Medical Lab Technologist (CMLT) and CHS – Tegemeza Plus Project Lab Coordinator, the Laboratory Technologist/RTCQI Champion will provide standard oversight while regularly monitoring and ensuring quality of testing outside the traditional laboratory settings. He/She will work directly with testing sites on various activities or tasks to improve the quality of testing at the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing quarterly Stepwise Process for Improving Rapid Testing (SPI–RT) audit for all supported sites, identifying the gaps and assisting in the implementation of corrective action.
- Monthly review of HTS lab register for adherence to the HIV testing SOPs for all project supported sites
- Monthly on-site visits to provide mentorship on rapid HIV testing guided by SPI-RT 2015.
- Assist in the distribution of HIV PT samples at the facility level as well as implementation and monitoring of corrective actions for participating sites.
- Write reports and prepare presentations describing progress and achievements and communicate the findings to the facilities, County and project staff.
- Provide objective reports and analysis in a timely manner.
- Support facilities prepare for certification on HIV testing through continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Support facilities implement internal quality controls for HIV testing.
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Registered by KMLTTB.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to plan and prioritise own.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- At least 3 years of experience in lab services including HIV testing.
