Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company Ltd (NAWASSCO) is a Company established under the Companies Act (Cap 486, Laws of Kenya) and is wholly owned by the County Government of Nakuru. The objectives of the Company are broadly and extensively formulated in the Memorandum and Articles of Association and cover a wide range of activities directly related to or associated with the provision of water and sanitation services within Nakuru East and Nakuru West Sub counties and its environs. The Company is seeking to fill the following Positions with individuals who are customer service oriented, qualified and experienced and who seek to be part of a result oriented team.

NAWASSCO/1/02/2020 – SEWERAGE SUPERINTENDENT

The successful candidate will report to the Technical Manager and will be responsible for coordinating, controlling and overseeing Sewerage Services within our area of jurisdiction in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Responsibilities

i. Plan, organize and supervise all activities of the section and ensure operations are carried out in a cost effective manner.

ii. Develop and implement PPM program for the sewer network

iii. Plan and supervise the removable of sewer blockages, repairs and maintenance.

iv. Design and oversee construction works and ensure the quality and standard of work are as per the specifications. v. Organise and supervise the installation of new sewer connections and regularly inspect the installations.

vi. Oversee the regular quality testing of the raw sewage and the effluents from the treatment works and ensure they meet national standards.

vii. Prepare work schedules, job cards and maintain good operational records.

viii. Ensure that required inputs are collected from stores and work teams or staff carry out their tasks effectively.

ix. Liaise with other sections in handling customer complaints regarding the provision of sewerage services.

x. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports to the Technical Manager.

xi. Ensure that work shifts at the disposal works operate smoothly and effectively.

xii. Identify developing areas that may be considered for sewer mains extensions and recommend to the Technical Manager.

xiii. Ensure the section has sufficient tools and equipment to carry out work timely and effectively.

xiv. Ensure sound occupational health and safety practices are maintained for all activities in the section

xv. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

i. Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Water Engineering from a recognised Institution with at least five (5) working years relevant experience, two (2) of which must be at senior management level

OR:

Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering with At least seven (7) working years relevant experience, three (3) of which must be at senior management level

ii. Must be Proficient in Design and Supervision of large Sewer Network and Construction of Sewage Treatment Plants

iii. Computer Proficiency with a working knowledge of office applications, AutoCAD etc.

Terms of Employment

Three (3) Year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.
