Do you want to build a career that is full of meaning and impact? The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. In the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, the Infrastructure (INR) department at IFC encompasses the various infrastructure sectors and mining. As MEA is a key region for IFC, INR is expected to ramp up activities, including advisory programs and engagements. Current programs cut across power, water, energy access and cities, among other areas, and there is a concerted effort underway to ramp up activity, particularly in upstream activities intended to support investment opportunities. The INR MEA Upstream Strategy represents a new approach, driven by demand and focuses on the proactive development of a investment pipeline. In some cases, this has been pursued by creating bankable private sector infrastructure opportunities through what we call “scaling” – focusing not on single asset development, but on a holistic approach that creates a pipeline of infrastructure projects.
