Job Requirements
  • Minimum of BA/BSc Degree in Project management, Social Science, M&E or relevant disciplines
  • Minimum 3 years working experience of monitoring project in particular humanitarian and developmental projects/programs in Kenya/Horn of Africa
  • Competence to guide research staff in the design of uptake-oriented social/project management research in government and/or humanitarian organizations
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in M&E and learning, preferably on INGOs or donor-funded programs in Kenya/Africa
  • Experience of developing theories of change, log frames, indicators and outcome/impact measurement- essential
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluating programmes/projects-essential
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis –essential
  • Experience of writing and presenting reports and briefings–essential
  • Experience of designing systems and tools–essential
  • Experience of training and mentoring staff–essential
  • Knowledge of current good practice in MEL methodologies–essential
  • Trainings in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Database management, etc. is preferred
  • Physical fitness and willingness to trek to remote project sites is essential
Skills, abilities and knowledge Requirements
  • Experience of developing theories of change, log frames, indicators and outcome/impact measurement- essential
  • Knowledge of current good practice in MEL methodologies – essential
  • Sound database management, analysis and interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Familiarity in baseline, midline and endline reviews and evaluations- essential
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis –essential
  • Experience of writing and presenting reports and briefings–essential
  • Fluency in written and spoken English as well as a critical eye for editing and grammar and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously – essential
  • Demonstrable experience and skills in the use of software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, database programs, the internet, electronic media etc;
  • Effective organizational skills for handling work in a timely manner, and ability to coordinate tasks to meet deadlines- essential
  • Prior NGO experience is required.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills, including a collaborative approach to resolving issues—essential
  • Self-motivation, high level of initiative and sense of responsibility -essential
  • Willingness to work out of office hours occasionally when necessary- essential
  • Commitment to inclusive programming that encourages full participation of individuals regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity or other marginalized status- essential
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to AKF and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission- essential
