About us

Christian Aid has a vision: A world free from poverty. To do that we are committed to exposing the scandal of poverty, and to challenging and changing the systems that favour the rich and powerful over the poor and marginalised. As an international development NGO, Christian Aid has been actively campaigning internationally, regionally and nationally on the root causes of global poverty, including key issues of our time such as climate change and economic justice.

About the role:

As part of the Global Advocacy and Policy team in the Policy in the Public Affairs and Campaigns Department, this role will maximize the impact and effectiveness of Christian Aid’s advocacy and influencing in a collaborative and coordinated way toward UN agencies, Africa Union, multilateral banks and other significant targets.

With a focus on our two main campaigns on economic justice and climate justice, the post holder will connect national movement-building in Christian Aid’s country programmes with relevant strategies at a pan-African level. As a strategic role for the organisation driving our influencing work at the Pan Africa level, the post holder will ensure Christian Aid delivers impactful advocacy and influencing work. Working through and collaborating with regional coalitions, network and partners, the postholder will also support advocacy and influencing strategies across countries where we work and seek to influence within the context of a clear coherent strategy at regional and global levels.

About you:

Christian Aid is looking for an experienced individual to shape and deliver our global advocacy in a pan-African context. The successful candidate will be experienced in working in a Pan Africa setting and of engaging regional institutions, as well as in navigating regional civil society and participating in coalitions, understanding how this connects to national and global level influencing. The postholder will be persuasive, able to negotiate and opportunistic to bring about change, whilst maintaining a coherent, organisational approach.

With a track record in delivering impactful advocacy and using a range of approaches, you will need to be a great team player with proven experience of building constructive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Experience in working with ecumenical and faith-based organisations is an advantage.
