Job Purpose

The Human Resource Assistant will report to the Head of Human Resources and Administration and will be responsible for providing administrative support in the implementation of HR policies and procedures. . He/she will be responsible for day to day HR admin activities such as leave and attendance management, benefits administration and maintenance of employee records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Custodian of employee records/files; Responsible for maintenance, regular update and proper storage of staff files in line with internal guidelines
  • Manage employees’ attendance and leave and initiate appropriate action against any violations as per the attendance and leave policies.
  • Provide administrative support to the talent officer in the areas of recruitment, performance management and training.
  • Accurately collate monthly payroll inputs and submit for final payroll processing in a timely manner.
  • Prepare HR letters and documentation such as employment contracts and warning letters in line with prescribed templates.
  • Receive employee grievances and handle/escalate as appropriate.
  • Manage the exit process; conduct exit interviews where applicable, ensure full clearance and follow up on processing of final dues

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences or equivalent with postgraduate diploma in HRM
  • IHRM membership is required
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar role in a labour intensive environment
  • Experience of working in a unionized environment is an added advantage
  • Attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good planning and organization skills
