Senior Program Officer, DAWN UBT and PrCr Projects

PATH is seeking a Senior Program Officer to provide support to the Medical Devices and Health technologies (MDHT) DAWN project, specifically activities related to the Ellavi uterine balloon tamponade (UBT) and PrCr diagnostic test.
DAWN UBT and PrCr projects
- Working closely with DAWN UBT and PrCr product teams in Seattle and the Kenya-based program officer for DAWN UBT and the Pathway Foundation UBT projects to develop and maintain synergy among the three projects.
- Engage closely with other PATH projects such as the Living Labs Project as required.
- Provide strategic advice to the DAWN project to advance Ellavi UBT and a PrCr test from research to routine use in Kenya.
- Communicate with DAWN UBT and PrCr product teams in Seattle to ensure that the DAWN projects in Kenya are properly implemented in a timely manner.
- Represent DAWN project to Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders. Engage with them on a regular basis to get buy-in from them and to keep them abreast of the project progress, in collaboration with the program officer for DAWN UBT and Pathway Foundation UBT projects.
DAWN UBT project specific
- Provide support to the program officer for DAWN UBT project and ensure that the following activities related to the implementation research for Ellavi UBT in Nairobi county are appropriately conducted in a timely manner.
- Work closely with the implementation partners to ensure the scope of work is conducted per the project charter and agreement.
- Support planning and the coordination of the UBT training activities
- Support the data collection, input, and collation activities
- Provide support for data analysis if required.
- Facilitate the interim and final result dissemination meeting. Especially, in the final result dissemination meeting, ensure that meeting outcomes are achieved and clear next steps toward adoption of Ellavi UBT in Kenya are outlined.
- Continue to work with Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders that next steps identified in the final result dissemination meeting will be implemented.
- Communication with the local distributor of the Ellavi UBT as required.
DAWN PrCr diagnostic test project specific
- Support the PrCr product team in Seattle in the design and execution of a workshop with national stakeholders to discuss the findings from the project to date and determine priority research questions and next steps to move forward a PrCr test in Kenya.
- Organize and facilitate the workshop in Kenya.
- Based on the results of the workshop, participate in the design of an implementation research study on the introduction of the PrCr test in Kenya.
- In collaboration with the Seattle PrCr product team, ensure that the implementation research study is designed, planned, executed and completed in a timely manner. This may include:
- Obtaining necessary approvals for the study
- As applicable, working closely with the implementation research partners to ensure that the study is implemented according to the protocol and agreement.
- Supporting the planning and coordination of study training activities
- Identifying necessary resources for data collection, entry, and collation and overseeing these activities.
- Participating in data analysis that will be led by the Seattle PrCr product team.
- Organize and facilitate interim and final result dissemination meetings with key stakeholders. Ensure that meeting outcomes are achieved and that clear next steps toward adoption of PrCr diagnostic test in Kenya are outlined, particularly during the final dissemination meeting.
- Work closely with Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders before, during, and after the completion of the implementation research study.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public health or in a relevant field.
- At least 7 years of relevant program experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Kenya’s health system at the national and subnational level, and especially pertaining to maternal health policies and practices.
- Familiar with medical devices and/or MNCH medical devices more specifically.
- Familiarity with the principles of implementation research and experience conducting qualitative and quantitative field research.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with Ministries of Health and national and County Health Management Teams in Kenya.
- Proven ability to synthesize information to inform project strategy and advance MNCH medical devices from research to adoption working with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to the field of global health.
- Skilled in successfully working with geographically dispersed teams and working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) complex issues in a concise, compelling, and easily understandable manner.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize deadlines and work in fast-moving environments and teams, while maintaining accuracy.
Must have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
