Kericho County is one of the counties the republic of kenya. The county seats between longitude 35o 02′ and 35o 40′ East and between the equator and latitude 0 23′ South with an altitude of about 2002m above the sea level. It borders Uasin Gishu County to the North West, Baringo County to the North, Nandi County to the North-West, Nakuru County to the East and Bomet County to the South. It has a population of 901,777 (2019 census) and an area of 2,111 km2Its capital and largest town is Kericho.

Kericho County is home to the best of Kenya Tea which is renowned worldwide for its taste with its town square even known as Chai Square. Some of the largest tea companies including Unilever Kenya, James Finlay and Williamson Tea are based here. It is also home to the popular Ketepa brand.

ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON J/G ‘P’ KCPSB/ 2021/25

Duties and Responsibilities

a. Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients.
b. Carrying out specialized Clinical care, providing psychosocial interventions, providing clinical services to patients, training, consulting and performing surgeries in various Health Facilities.
c. Carrying out forensic and Medico-Legal services coordinating disease surveillance, prevention and control.
d. Coordinating Health Education and Promotion.
e. Implementing Health Projects and programs.
f. Maintaining up-to-date Health Information Systems.
g. Monitoring provision of Health Treatment and care.
h. Undertaking Health Research.
i. Analyzing medical report.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade a Candidate must have:

a. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B: Ch.B.) degree from an Institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
b. Master’s degree in Orthopedic Surgery, or equivalent qualification from an Institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
c. Must have served for more than two and half years in a recognized institution.
d. Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists board.
e. Valid practicing License from Medical Practitioners and Dentists board.
f. Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized Institution.
g. Demonstrated Professional Competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.
