Our Client in the real estate development industry is looking for a procurement officer, the officer is responsible for assisting in the effective implementation of the functions of procurement and logistical services. The Procurement Officer promotes a collaborative, client-focused, quality, and result-oriented approach in the Procurement Unit. Key activities responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining positive supplier relations, evaluating supply options, approving purchases, and maintaining accurate records. to be used in construction projects. This job is located in Nairobi.


Receive Procurement requests and act by seeking competitive suppliers with the highest quality products and services.

Seek profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships; negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms.

Ensure approved vendor details and contract prices are updated.

Examine and tests existing contracts and update to meet expected standards.

Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.

Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements.

Ensure availability of quality goods and services ordered and prompt delivery of the same to the user through timely processing of the requisitions placed.

Coordinate market survey of goods & services to be purchased from suppliers using Request for Quotations, Request for Proposals and Single Sourcing.

Analyze and recommends approval of the ordering of necessary goods and services.

Finalize purchase details of orders on and deliveries ensuring full documentation of the process.

Maintain relationship with internal staff and external customers to enable support of procurement activities.

Receiving goods and ensuring both quality and quantity is observed.

Tracing, tracking and expediting the purchase processes to meet set timelines.

Liaising with Finance department for efficient payment of suppliers and sub- contractors

Ensure adherence to procurement procedures (service charter) and standards through creating awareness to the users on the processes to be followed.

Track and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness (Stocks, Delivery timelines, Processes, Order Register, Requests Tracker, Tracker for exceptions).

Receive Receipts, Invoices, Delivery Notes and all procurement related documents.

Daily and correctly post all accounting transactions i.e. GRN’s, and Purchase Vouchers using cash receipts.

Champion the development of the procurement record-keeping, filing and reporting system.

Supervise staff in the department to enhance work efficiency.

Supervise over stores issues and distribution to the respective sites across the country.

Ensure compliance of safety measures in the store.

Record and maintain a filing system of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, quotations and delivery notes.


 Bachelors Degree or diploma in Procurement.

 Minimum of at least 3 years experience in procurement in the construction industry.

 Experience with international non-governmental organizations is preferred.

 Good working knowledge of MS Office application (Word, Excel), emails, and able to easily   navigate the Internet.

Good in spoken and written English and Swahili.

Must be of unquestionable integrity and upholds ethical business practices.

Certification with Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is a plus.
