Department: Biomedical Engineering
Position: HOD Biomed Eng. Department
Reporting To: Hospital Administrator

Major duties and responsibilities

1.Ensure effective operation of Biomedical Engineering Department including supervision, mentorship and guidance of the departmental staff.
2.Convene and chair departmental meetings in in liaison with the management.
3.Submit daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports to the Management.
4.Attend HODs meetings and other hospital meetings from time to time.
5.Prepare and forward departmental budget, work schedules/duty rosters and other departmental requirements.
6.Advise the Management on emerging issues and trends in the Biomedical Engineering field.
7.Participate in the recruitment of qualified and competent staff for the Biomedical Engineering Department.
8.Address and resolve departmental matters of concern with regard to performance, conduct and facilities.
9.Assist, advice and provide technical specifications for replacement of parts and acquisition of medical equipment, plant and machinery.
10.Service or ensure periodic service of hospital machines and equipment and keep documentation of service histories on all machines and equipment
11.Conduct training on proper use, handling and safety of medical equip
