Job Title: Assistant Manager – Corporate Communication Services
Job Grade: MNS7 1 post

Job Description: The Assistant Manager, Corporate Communication Services will be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the overall management and administration of the Division.
Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail but not limited to:
(i) Developing, reviewing and implementing Corporate Communication policies, strategies and programmes, standards and guidelines in line with the overall corporate plan.
(ii) Preparation of corporate communication annual work plans, budgets annual and quarterly reports.
(iii) Development and management of information and communication materials including media management.
(iv) Management of corporate communications.
(v) Promoting a positive corporate image.
(vi) Coordinating the provision of media liaison services.
(vii) Coordinating responses to print and electronic media coverage.
(viii) Disseminating written commentaries to print media to promote visibility and image of MNS.
(ix) Attending media interviews and briefings.
(x) Preparing press releases, statements, and publication materials.
(xi) Coordinating media buys and reserves, advertising space with appropriate media outlets.
(xii) Preparing organizational documents such as annual reports, corporate profiles, speeches, visual aids, public presentations, and submissions.
(xiii) Overseeing production of visual, audio, and electronic material, including managing social media updates.
(xiv) Arranging interviews with journalists, preparing, and distributing media releases and liaising with Chief Executive Officer to make statements to the media.
(xv) Monitoring public opinion regarding the MNS.
(xvi) Providing technical advice on corporate communication.
(xvii) Supervising social media outreach.
(xviii) Analysing emerging trends in respect of corporate communication.
(xix) Monitoring media to mitigate against negative publicity and manage reputation risk.
(xx) Conducting communication research and surveys.
(xxi) Coordinating protocol services.
(xxii) Participation in corporate social responsibility programs.
(xxiii) Maintaining media database and contacts for proactiveness in maintaining positive image of Mwalimu National.
(xxiv) Any other relevant communication duties assigned from time to time
For appointment to this grade, an officer must: –
(i) Have served in the grade of Senior Corporate Communication Officer, for a minimum period of three (3) years or in a comparable position in the public or private organization for a minimum period of six (6) years, three (3) of which must be at a middle management level.
(ii) Have Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communications, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
(iii) Have Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communications, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
(iv) Be registered with a relevant professional body where applicable.
(v) Certificate in Senior Management Course from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
(vi) Be proficient in computer applications; and
(vii) Have demonstrated high degree of professional competence, administrative capability required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of corporate communications services.
