PACJA (Pan African Climate Justice Alliance) is a consortium of more than 1000 organizations from 48 African countries, and brings together a diverse membership drawn from Faith-based Organizations, Community-based organizations, Non-Governmental organizations, Trusts, Foundations, Indigenous Communities, Farmers, and Pastoralist Groups with a shared vision to advance a people-centred, rights-based, equitable, just and inclusive approach to climate response.
The Alliance works with, and for people at the frontline of climate crisis in rural settings, and believes that environmental and climate justice will be achieved only if governments recognize the right to justice and respond with policies, resources, and actions to meet the needs and aspirations of their citizens and that vulnerable groups such as women, indigenous peoples (IPs), youth, people living with disabilities (PWDs), who must be included in all aspects of decision-making processes especially in climate financing and in climate information and services (CIS).
PACJA’s Programme mirrors three thematic areas, namely Resilient People Societies and Economies (ReSPE), Just Transition and Energy Access (JTEA), and Climate Finance (CF), which informs its interventions, and particularly the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions of the Paris Agreement and overall acceleration of climate action.
Information Communication and Technology Officer
The incumbent’s role will be to lead and direct the provision and delivery of ICT Services throughout the organization to develop the service in alignment with overall PACJA strategies while considering IT needs immediately. He/She will be expected to participate and build initiatives that are in line with the strategy.
B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Information technology
a) Configure and deploy laptops and peripheral equipment
b) Install, troubleshoot, repair, update and maintain workstations and laptops and desktops
c) Install, maintain, and troubleshoot printers/copiers as well as manage computer cartridge requests
d) Setup and support audio/visual equipment for presentations and training during physical and online meetings /conferences
e) Install and configure peripherals including scanners, external drives, monitors and other peripheral hardware to computers and other equipment’s
f) Removal/disposal of non-functional equipment.
a) Advice on the appropriate software and system to be used in the organization troubleshooting and support teams on software installation and utilization.
b) Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and update operating systems and user applications
c) Assure that all software on PACJA equipment is licensed and keep a record of licenses
d) Track license and support contracts to include notification of renewal timeframe to management.
– Monitor network to ensure network functionality and availability to all system users
– Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair cable, wireless and other network infrastructure
– Support existing/new server/s and administer access rights for all users in the office
a) Maintain local and server-based anti-virus software
b) Develop security policies, inform, and train users and management on how to adhere to PACJA and local security ICT policies
c) In case of virus infection clean out affected equipment.
d) Monitor the internet users and install firewalls on unnecessary internet utilization during working hours(i.e. watching movies, downloading movies etc.)
e) Ensuring that the organization IT assets are utilized to print only work-related materials
a) Ensure the computer is set up before a new hire start date and any related moves
b) Handle the relocation of computer equipment as a result of office( field travels) or personnel changes
c) Request and set up new user accounts and email accounts in collaboration with the Human Resource personnel.
d) Troubleshoot, and repair user accounts and email accounts, assist in resetting passwords.
a) Participation in research and recommendation of improved infrastructure (mainly cloud-based solutions) processes and technologies to include growth planning
b) In collaboration with the HR Provide procurement assistance including, but not limited to, researching solutions, engaging with potential vendors, making recommendations for product purchases, and evaluating bids
c) Test new equipment and applications and provide thorough feedback.
d) Ensure that Disaster Recovery options are in place, documented, and tested periodically.
e) Ensure that all organization knowledge sharing platforms are networked
2. Communication support
a) Supporting the Communication team in website updates and maintenance
b) Monitoring the website visits
c) Performing search engine optimization (SEO)
d) Keeping the social media updated with the current search engines
a. Ensure that the required reports for all Risk Management related to ICT are developed and generated as and when needed in liaison with other departments
b. Ensure that Disaster Recovery options are in place, documented, and tested periodically.
c. Ensure that all organization knowledge sharing platforms are networked and utilized appropriately (Give monthly utilization reports)
4. Education Training
a) Train new and current employees on computer software and ICT systems
b) Create materiel and presentations for training and reports
c) Assess user capacity and suggest training and areas in need of improvement.
5. Routine Administrative Tasks
a) Create and maintain inventory, which may include hardware, software and various items such as laser printer cartridges and peripheral equipment
b) Maintaining documentation of processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
c) Monitor and report ICT expenses and budgets
d) Assist with preparation of operating budgets based on estimated and actual expenditures for ICT systems and support needs
e) Keep ICT equipment, storage area and work area clean and organized.
f) Any other duties

D. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science/Engineering, Master Degree in Computer Management/Information Technology will be an added advantage
2. Professional Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Sun Solaris Systems /Network/Security Administrator, Cisco Certification, etc., are desirable.
3. At least three years of working experience in an NGO environment in a similar position, ideally, more than two years of professional experience in an ICT environment, including the delivery of major projects.
