You will advise partners and colleagues on potential risks related to the firm’s client service risk often with a focus on a given practice or functional area.
Who You’ll Work With
You will be based in our Cairo, Casablanca, Dubai, Johannesburg or Nairobi office as part of the Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa client service risk team. You will work as part of firm risk’s global client service risk team which advises McKinsey partners and the firm’s Client Service Risk Committee (CSRC). The CSRC is a committee of senior partners who counsel on how the firm can best serve its clients and publish its knowledge while mitigating and managing the risks involved.
You will work closely with the broader risk team as well as with colleagues in other functions (e.g. communications and legal) to advise on risks relating to providing professional services such as organizational and individual conflicts of interest, confidentiality and reputation risk. You are also responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant policies.
What You’ll Do
You will be responsible for preparing briefing memos, contributing to problem-solving and supporting implementation of decisions during discussions by the Client Service Risk Committee. You will provide transparency on risks we face in our work in a given area including developing weekly, monthly and quarterly Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa dashboards. You will provide reports to firm leadership and prioritize actions to address them. You will also monitor risk indicators against established thresholds, escalating to leadership as appropriate while identifying new potential sources of data.
You will co-develop and co-lead awareness-raising on risk in your given area of focus including learning programs, training and internal communications campaigns. You will co-develop processes to ensure consistent application of policies and guidelines in your area of focus, working closely with compliance colleagues. You will also contribute to global policy reviews and projects related to the firm’s work in your focus area.
7 years of professional experience in legal, professional services, risk and/or communications
Affinity and abiding interest and experience in risk and governance issues
Strong understanding of and experience in data analytics, systems and tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and integrity
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work on complex, sensitive, time-critical issues
Entrepreneurial and collaborative attitude; interest and aptitude for working as part of a global team
Ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counselor relationships
Outstanding English written and oral communication skills including clear and concise writing and editorial skills.
