GreenMax Capital Advisors is recruiting a Manager, Results Based Financing (RBF) to deepen its team capabilities designing and managing RBF facilities for the off grid energy space in Africa.
This position will be full time and based in our office in Nairobi. Some travel is anticipated throughout Africa, although the GreenMax team has regional representation to originate relationships in our target countries.
GreenMax is one of the leading transaction advisors and fund managers in the energy access space. Our recent work includes design and launch of the Green4Access First Loss Facility, a risk mitigation platform to encourage Local Financial Institution lending in the off grid space; design of the RBF platform for the off grid sector in Mozambique, design of a subordinated debt financing facility for renewable energy at the Development Bank of Nigeria and preparation of national funds and financing vehicles for clean energy in Vanuatu, Colombia, Argentina, Ukraine and Kosovo. Currently GreenMax is part of a consortium which will be managing a new Euro 50M off grid fund for Africa, where GreenMax is specifically responsible for running the RBF Window.
GreenMax is currently seeking to select a proven RBF professional with deep Africa off grid energy experience to manage the RBF Window of the aforementioned new fund during its inaugural period and beyond, and to further develop GreenMax’s RBF fund management practice.
Minimum requirements for the position
– 5+ years experience with designing and implementing results based grant financing schemes
– 3+ years work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
– In-depth knowledge of rural energy projects gained through education (e.g. degree courses) or project experience
Aside from these minimum requirements, GreenMax always seeks the most talented and appropriate professionals for key positions without a focus on highly prescriptive background and experience requirements. More generally, the ideal candidate will have strong leadership, communication, business development and negotiation skills and should be able to write extremely well in English. An ability to work in French and/or Portuguese will give the best qualified candidates an edge.
