MEDICAL SPECIALISTS – EIGHTEEN (18) POSTS –(Pediatrics and Child Health – 6 posts, Physician – 6 posts, Anaesthesiologist – 6 posts) – V/No. 88/2021
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.99,900 – Ksh.169,140 p.m (CSG 6)
House Allowance: Ksh.20, 000 – 50,000 p.m (Depending on duty station)
Commuter Allowance: Ksh.16, 000p.m
Leave Allowance: As provided by the government
Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year
Medical Cover: As provided by the government
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B. Ch.B.) degree from a university recognized in Kenya
(ii) a Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Medicine, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
(iii) a Certificate of Registration from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
(iv) a valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
(v) demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) performing complex and advanced clinical patient management in areas of specialization;
(ii) coordinating, training, coaching, and mentoring of health personnel.
(iii) Managing health stores including essential medicines and/or plant and equipment;
(iv) managing larger facilities/hospitals.
(v) Developing intervention activities or programmes for the management of diseases and conditions.
(vi) Developing medical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocals;
(vii) coordinating emergency response and clinical care;
(viii) coordinating health projects and programmes;
(ix) managing health information systems;
(x) carrying out health surveys and research; and
(xi) monitoring the provision of forensic and medico-legal services.
