Customs Compliance Coordinator acts as the main focal point for handling customs formalities by providing strong technical leadership and coordinating with customs authorities, clearing agents and colleagues from the supply chain, warehouse and transport units for all incoming and outgoing shipments in line with the ICRC policy and with the statutory & legal requirements.


  • Responsible for the management and control of all customs documentation, reports for both internal & external audits and security bonds in line with internal procedures while ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies;
  • Ensures and coordinates correct classification, declaration and timely customs clearance for ICRC goods arriving/ exiting at customs border points;
  • Designs, and implements standard operating procedures for the customs and transit activities which are compliant with international / local trading and customs regulations;
  • Promptly identify and manages emerging risks or opportunities arising from new customs and excise legislative changes;
  • Organises and undertakes customs formalities and processes for internal quality control and converting transit / Duty Free goods and motor vehicles to Home use status;
  • Organise and undertake bond control checks by KRA Customs officers for the purposes of extension of transit time, internal quality control, conversion into home use etc.;
  • Follow-up the invoicing, irregularities, delays and manages claims relating to customs in line with the ICRC procedures and submits files to relevant channels;
  • Participates actively to the Clearance agent Tendering Process and selection together with the Regional Transport Manager;
  • Organizes regular meetings within his/her team to ensure optimal coordination of the work and proper flow of information.


  • Degree in Customs/ Logistics/Freight forwarding or equivalent;
  • Eight years working experience in customs/ Logistics field with excellent knowledge of the laws and regulation;
  • East Africa Community (EAC) Customs certification and be conversant with Trade X, ICMS, IPMIS, KENTRADE and KWATOS;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (Knowledge of French is an asset);
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point), with experience in ERPs;
  • Valid driving license and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation Certification;
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills;
  • Team leadership and analytical skills;
  • Certificate of good conduct;
  • Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
