Impact Research and Development Organization (IRDO) is a registered Kenyan NGO with a main office in Kisumu and regional offices in 7 counties of Kenya. IRDO’s principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities. IRDO is currently funded by Kenya R. Cross Society through NFM3 to implement HIV prevention, care and treatment services targeting Key Populations (KPs) in Kisii, Nyamira, Busia, Nandi, Migori, and Vihiga Counties. We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel to fill in the following positions in Nandi County from January 2022.

SOCIAL WORKER

REF: IRDO/SW NANDI/001/2021

Job Summary:

The Social Worker will support the successful implementation of all psycho-social activities within the KPs Program and will be responsible for the provision of quality case management including direct counseling to KPs as per their needs.

In collaboration with the clinical staff, he/she will support sensitization of the Outreach Workers and Peer Educators in response to Gender-Based Violence [GBV] and GBV case management. In addition, establish therapeutic rapport with KPs with a view to offer individualized and group counseling within the DiCE and during outreach activities; support KPLHIV support groups sessions; ensure KP,IIV adhere to clinical appointments and medication; and sensitize, problem solve, dialogue and mediate with KPs about issues of trauma, GBV any other related psycho-social issues.
Required Qualifications and Experience

• Must be holder of Diploma in Psycho-social Counseling/, Sociology or related field. • At least 2-3 years’ experience in Key Population counseling • Extensive experience providing psychotherapy to individuals and groups. • Understanding of and experience implementing culturally appropriate interventions, including individual, group and community-based approaches for key population. • Experience with gender-based violence highly desirable. • Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Suite. • Working knowledge of Nandi County is highly desirable, specifically the KPs hotspots
