DECLARATION OF VACANCIES IN THE KITUI COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICE

Kitui County Public Service Board (CPSB) is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012 pursuant to Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Section 59 of the County Governments Act 2012 outlines the functions of the CPSB among them being “appoint persons to hold or act in offices of the county public service including in the Boards of cities and urban areas within the County and to confirm appointments”

Pursuant to the above provisions, Kitui CPSB invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for the positions listed below:

Requirements for Appointment:

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Served in the grade of Deputy Director for Co-operatives for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines;- Commerce, Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Sociology, Law, Agricultural Economics, Co-operative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development, Finance or Agri-business from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines;- Commerce, Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Sociology, Law, Agricultural Economics, Co-operative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development, Finance or Agri-business from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
  • Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a thorough understanding of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to the Co-operative Development and Marketing function.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing technical advice on co-operative investments, finance, credit, marketing, project management, extension and advisory services;
  • Developing and ensuring implementation of policies;
  • Enforcing compliance with co-operative legislation;
  • Designing, coordinating and monitoring the implementation of cooperative activities, programmes and policies;
  • Preparing and validating registration and deregistration of co-operative societies documents;
  • Monitoring co-operative societies liquidation process;
  • Developing education and training packages for the co-operative movement;
  • Carrying out market research and disseminating research findings;
  • Promoting value addition and processing;
  • Conducting co-operative banking inspections;
  • Undertaking co-operative risk assessment;
  • Developing new financial products, new credit policies and other co-operative ventures;
  • Be responsible for staff supervision, development and appraisal; and
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by a competent authority.
