In the East Africa and Sahel region, MCC operates in Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Kenya/Tanzania, South Sudan, and Uganda.

Under the overall guidance of Finance Services (FS) and direct supervision of East Africa and Sahel Area Directors, (EASAD’s) the Regional Finance Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Representatives and country offices with increasing workload and capacity building around financial needs and will function as an area-level link as a conduit of information between financial services in the US/Canada and program offices in EAS.

Tasks & Responsibilities

1. Regional level support:

a) Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as needed by FS.

b) Coordinate the preparation and the collection of quarterly budget comparisons and projection reports.

c) Coordinate annual financial audit schedules for country programs and follow up on the action points.

d) Support AD’s with annual country financial reviews and organize MCC spot checks for country programs.

e) Support AD’s and FS in addressing potential fraud cases.

f) Ensure vehicle procurement protocols are followed and regional vehicle summary is maintained.

g) Facilitate trainings for partners across the region on standard MCC financial management and reporting expectations.

2. Country-Level Support:

a) Provide training, on-boarding and support for country level financial staff, especially FASWin and fraud training in the region.

b) Support country Representatives (Reps) with conducting partner financial review audits.

c) Reviewing country wire requests and Representatives Personal Monthly Reports (PMRs).

d) Support Country Offices to ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to financial management and the management of associated risks.

e) Provide support with Year End accounting in country and for FS (Grant Prepaid, Accounts payable, etc.)

f) Provide training to new Representatives FS (Budgets, Fund request, Partner review).

g) Assist country FS staff to enter budget additions.

h) Provide backup for country-level finance staff when they are on leave. Including, but not limited to: FASWin entries, budget comparison, monthly reporting.

i) Follow-up on Momentum trainings and implement further with country offices.

j) Coordinate with, and assist, area level HR Coordinator and country teams regarding computation of employment and other taxes for NS, SWers, office, etc.

k) Manage country electronic FS filing system.

l) Support country offices in reviewing partner project financial reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Requirements

a) Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.

b) Prior work experience of 5 years with international humanitarian organizations, non-government, or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

c) Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of staff and varying levels of financial capacity.

d) Ability to train staff in accounting and basic budgeting.

e) English fluency is required, French is an added advantage.

f) Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g., Word, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Knowledge in cash Flow & forecast is a distinct advantage.

g) Attention to detail, ability to organize work in a methodical way.

h) Discreet, detail and client – oriented and willingness to learn new things.

i) Legal right to stay and work in Kenya.

j) Exhibit a commitment to a personal Christian faith and discipleship, active church membership and nonviolent peacemaking.
