Job Summary

The Data Officer will support various tasks in data and knowledge management procedures. He/she is primarily responsible for coordinating with different units, data collection and analysis as needed; processing and organizing documentation, maintaining, and updating databases, performing regular maintenance checks, supporting data reporting and other operations to optimize data, systems, and knowledge management activities.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Curation of data and information generated from AWARD’s interventions and organize, design strategies for acquisition, usage, storage, and distribution.
  • Identification of other relevant data sources, maintenance of existing databases including the AWARD’s Management Information System (MIS) to support better organizational data utilization, and development of new databases as necessary.
  • Data collection, entry and updating processes as well as regular data quality checks.
  • Data analyses: knowledge synthesis and visualizations to guide decision-making.
  • Research and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (ME&L) activities including uploading and tracking research instruments, feedback forms and other online surveys tools.
  • Troubleshooting processes and other information systems related challenges.
  • Electronic filing and archiving of documents.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor and/or in collaboration with other units.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in information systems, data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or any other related areas. Some experience in web development is also desirable.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing information systems and conducting data analysis.
  • Fluency in oral and written English. Proficiency in French is highly desirable.
  • Experience in implementing and supporting productivity tools such as document management systems, online survey tools and data management information systems.
  • Data analysis (both qualitative and quantitative) and data visualization skills.
  • Good expertise in database management languages such as MySQL, Big Query Standard SQL, etc.; excellent MS Office and especially advanced skills in Excel.
  • Sound knowledge of statistical analysis and good command of analytical software such as R Studio, SPSS, Stata, NVivo, Atlas.ti, and other relevant software.
  • Good understanding of data protection policies, and data privacy regulation, data storage and utilization.
  • Experience in generating and deliver reports that provide useful insights for programmatic interventions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate complex technical concepts and ideas in non-technical terms.

  • A positive attitude to work with ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different backgrounds.
