Human Resources Officer

Around 135 staff, 30 volunteers as well as consultants based in many countries across 5 continents, work towards the International Crisis Group’s mission to prevent wars and shape policies that will build a more peaceful world. Our HR team with colleagues in Boston, Brussels and Nairobi is looking for a new colleague to support with payroll and benefits administration, organisational tasks, and HR communications, based in either Kenya, Senegal, Turkey, Colombia, US (DC or NY) or the UK with flexibility around remote work. This is a great role for a junior professional with the right mix of data, technology, and social creative skills. Crisis Group pays competitive salaries that reflect responsibilities for the role in the relevant job market as well as relevant experience that you bring.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Administer payroll and benefits for international locations, including review and filing of benefits election forms, processing of enrollments, changes, terminations and preparation of payrolls;
  • Provide support to recruitment in advertising jobs, liaise with candidates and hiring panels to schedule interviews and facilitate writing tests;
  • Draft employment contracts and renewals, write and respond to employment verifications and visa letters, as required;
  • Ensure that our HRIS and electronic staff files are kept up to date, maintain arrivals, departures, and other internal HR communications;
  • Assist in timely delivery of required files and information for periodic audits;
  • Provide other support as required.

Our preferred candidate has at least 1 year of HR or office administration experience ideally in an international organisation. Our administrative tasks are complex and require analytical skills and attention to detail. You should be able to handle HR-related matters with sensitivity and confidentiality, have strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritise your tasks with minimal supervision. Because our working language is English, excellent oral and written communication skills in English are a must. For a good fit with our HR team, you should be a team player, who keeps an eye out for others and who is keen to address a diverse range of HR issues.
