Job Summary: The Research Assistant will work with the Senior Research Officer to coordinate and conduct Group Antenatal Care (G-ANC) research study activities including health facility data collection through data abstraction and survey interviewing for quantitative data. Recruitment, screening for focus- group discussions and key informant
interviews data collection from qualitative research study participants according to the study protocol and standard operating procedures.

Roles and responsibilities
› Coordinates and manages qualitative and quantitative data collection calendar for Group Antenatal Care (GANC) study as provided by Senior Research Officer.
› Collect baseline data from the Antenatal Clinic registers at the respective health facilities using electronic device
› Liaise with health facility managers to schedule for monthly data collection at the specific health facilities; data abstraction from the GANC cohort registers
› Conduct monthly meeting observation of GANC groups and collect monitoring data on facility readiness and continuous requirements in implementing GANC
› Recruit and screen survey participants at the health facilities with assistantance of health workers for conducting surveys and ensure that verbal/oral consent is obtained from all participants before conducting
› Collect data from survey participants electronically on a monthly basis at all selected study health facilities
› Participate in monthly survey data collection from participant at the health facilities
› Conduct focus group discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) at midline and end line of the study while ensuring data accuracy and completeness
› Transcribing interview audios from Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs) and translating data where necessary
› Adhere/comply with policies on ethical conduct of research and human subject’s protection as provided in the study protocol
› Ensure confidentiality of information and eliminate any apprehensions and fears from the mind of the study subject.
› Participating in the data coding, analysis, and generation of analytical memos from qualitative data collected
› Provide weekly reports on the data collection progress and regularly communicate with the senior research officer to bring to their attention any issue that may compromise the study
› Ensures that all project financial expenditure are accurately accounted for, and timely financial report and liquidation submitted to the project coordinator
› Participate in the preparation of detailed progress report and participate in weekly meetings of the study team
› Assist in maintaining repository of all project materials and information from the quantitative and qualitative research activities
› Participate in the documentation of project experiences and lessons learnt during implementation of GANC study
› Perform such tasks as assigned by the Senior Research Officer and PI.
Specific Requirements

› Degree in a relevant healthcare discipline including social sciences or equivalent
› Minimum 2 years’ experience in the collection and analysis of qualitative data (participant & non participantobservation, focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and key informant interviews)
› Experience in collection of quantitative data using electronic devices
› Experience setting up and managing virtual meetings on platforms such as zoom, Microsoft teams

› Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
› Ability to work independently and effectively
› Familiarity with electronic data collection tools is an added advantage
› Ability to manage multiple activities and achieving set deadlines
› Strong attention to details and writing skills that should include the ability to develop comprehensive notes during qualitative data collection and analysis
