Introduction
AKU- Department of Surgery is seeking an Instructor in Neurosurgery who will function under the supervision of the faculty and attending medical staff to enhance the service as a Clinician, Educator and Researcher. The Instructor is a senior Doctor who is qualified and serves as a potential faculty recruit.
Responsibilities
- Assess and manage patients
- Attend to emergency cases
- Educate patients on wellness prevention and early detection of risk factors for disease(s)
- Participate in establishing various planning parameters for addressing referral cases received at AKUH,N
- Participate in discussions with relevant members of the clinical care team to enable better integration of patient care activities
- Initiate discussions with consultants and colleagues to enable integration of clinical research activities, shared knowledge, institutional quality improvement and patient wellness activities
- Work with outreach clinics identified within the Nairobi area to improve case volumes and mix
- Attend journal clubs to discuss literature concerning patients care and new developments in medicineÂ
Requirements
- Should have at least 5 years Neurosurgical training
- Must have Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(M.B.Ch.B) or equivalent
- Be registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
- Have completed FCS-COSECSA training
- Certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Demonstrate competency and dexterity with all equipment utilized in the hospital environment
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity, compassion and respect for diversity and applies ethical principles appropriatelyÂ
- Seeks and accepts advice, and adheres to deadlines
