It has been the company’s policy to deal with architects, electrical engineering consultants, interior designers and clients on specific needs to provide unique and exclusive products for various projects.

As well as manufacturing of standard mass-produced items common in many retail outlets, the company manufactures products that meet specific design criteria set out by designers and clients. On receiving design specifications, an aesthetically functional model is produced. Whilst undertaking the development, the economic viability due to budget constraints is also determined.

Apart from the wide range of products it manufactures, Nationwide Electrical Industries Limited also stocks a range of imported electrical items, which adhere to the company’s strict quality standard.

About the job

The Lab Technician – Powder performs standard test procedures on material samples to ensure quality and conformance to specifications.

Responsibilities

i. Test raw material and finished powder coating samples per established specifications which includes processing of material and test panel preparation

ii. Make pass/fail determinations based on listed specifications and product knowledge

iii. Make adjustments to out-of-spec material

iv. Apply knowledge of the production process and understanding of formulation technology to solve production-related problems

v. Develop an understanding of how coating formulations and properties affect the end-user application

vi. Perform a variety of lab studies or services in support of projects under the supervision/direction of the QC Manager or a development team member

vii. Produce neat and orderly documents and reports such as product run logs, certificates of analysis, recertification records, and others as requested

viii. Prepare pre-ship and co-ship customer packages and expedite to the shipping department

ix. Operate all equipment and instruments in a safe manner

x. Responsible for upkeep and cleanliness of laboratory equipment and instruments

xi. As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training on how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety Coordinator or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the Environmental and Safety Coordinator.

xii. Assisting in QMS, EMS and OHSMS implementation.

xiii. Maintaining workplace safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a risk-free work environment.

xiv. Any other work given by Management from time to time

Qualifications

i. Preferred experience level: One to three years’ experience in a laboratory setting preferably in a manufacturing environment

ii. Degree/Diploma in Chemical Engineering/ Industrial Chemistry

iii. Experience with pre-mixing equipment, scales, colorimeter/particle analyzer/gloss meter, extruders, grinders, film gauges and spray guns preferred

iv. Excellent basic math skills including conversion from standard to metric

v. Excellent computer skills including experience in production software

vi. Excellent communication skills

vii. Willing to work in a team environment

viii. Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner
