Length of contract: 12 months fixed term contract (based on a 03 month probationary period)

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization providing assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural or non-natural disasters or persons excluded from access to health care. The organisation has health projects in more than 70 countries.

Main Purpose

Providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.


  • Observe universal hygiene in the youth-friendly area and outreach through ensuring availability of handwashing facilities or sanitizers and also by ensuring the patients and staff accessing the area follow the precautions.
  • Provide clinical treatment to the AYP according to the standard guidelines and procedures with support of the clinical officer and other medical teams.
  • Participate in the morning health talks with support of the HP supervisor with aim of sharing knowledge through sensitization of the available services at the youth-friendly area.
  • Conduct monthly drug inventory and order medical stocks and material based on need with support from the NAM and the pharmatec, follow up on expired drugs or short to expire and share for fast use or return to pharmacy if expired.
  • Obsereve cold chain of the vaccines and maintain it through change of ice packs and monitoring the freez tag in the cold box and recording the temperature chart.
  • Daily maintainance of the bio-medical equipments at the AYFC through cleaning according to the user manual and reporting any mulfunction to the NAM for replacement
  • Maintain confidentiality of the patients records and registers at the facility.
  • Ensure Aseptic procures are followed and observed during wound dressing or any related surgical procedures.
  • Ensure effective referral system of the patients with the support of the social worker and NAM through early identification and communication to the receiving facility.
  • Data collection and summary of departmental activities on a monthly basis while noting any major challenges within the unit.
  • Provide PFA and counselling to GBV survivors at the clinic and outreach.
  • Support outreach team, through clinical provision and case identification for mental health support and referral.



  • Essential recognized nurse degree/diploma Desirable Bachelor in Science of Nursing


  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting
  • Experience with MSF preferably or with other INGO.
  • Essential: working experience with AYKPs is a plus


  • English and Kiswahili


  • Computer literacy


  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong initiative, able to handle complex assignments with proactive attitude, organized, autonomous and attentive to details.
