Centre for Health Solutions: Program Officer (6 Months)

CHS is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of Program Officer for the PEPFAR-funded Tegemeza project in Central Kenya.
Overall Job Function

A key member of CHS program staff involved in the planning and execution of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services. Specifically, the Program Officer is responsible for on-site mentoring and implementation of Prevention, Care and Treatment activities.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical advice and support to health workers (doctors, clinical officers, nurses, counsellors, laboratory and pharmacy staff) in all aspects of planning and implementation of HIV services (care and treatment, TB/HIV, HIV testing and counselling) to ensure that patients receive the full complement of prevention, treatment and care in accordance to GoK/MoH and other applicable standards
Build the skills and knowledge of targeted clinical staff on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment through thematic trainings (off-site and on the job), mentorship, case reviews, CMEs.
To provide on-going supervision of CHS-supported HIV prevention, care and treatment activities in assigned sites including scheduled joint supportive supervision with County and Sub-County level Ministry of Health staff.
To assist in project monitoring and evaluation and reporting through national HMIS tools and other tools in use by CHS and its funding partners.
Routinely monitor program quality through QI approaches as well as elements of operations research including identification and documentation of best practices to ensure high quality HIV/AIDS service provision.
Timely preparation and submission of activity budgets, work plans, reports and other technical papers.
To assist in monitoring sub agreements.
Person Specification

A minimum of diploma in clinical medicine and surgery from a recognized institution.
Training in HIV/AIDS, TB comprehensive care and support
Good knowledge of practical delivery of HIV/AIDS clinical care and ART including patient centred management and family support
Excellent management abilities within multi-disciplinary team, support, training and mentoring
Good use of MS Office packages and office automation solutions.
