Background:
Global Programs for Research & Training is registered as an international NGO in Kenya, wholly owned and affiliated to the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). The Ministry of Health – National AIDS & STI Control Program (NASCOP), University of California San Francisco – Global Programs, and Centers for Disease Control is conducting a size estimates study for Key Populations.
Global Programs is seeking qualified research assistants with prior experience in quantitative and qualitative research; specifically, data collection, to conduct this study. The research assistants (RA), under the direct supervision of the study coordinator and overall supervision by study investigators, will provide quantitative and qualitative data collection support to the study. The positions require a 3 months commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Attend the full study training to understand the purpose and intent of the study, as
well as the plan for implementation.
· Understand and be able to describe protocol, tools and study operating procedures.
· Conduct data collection in field and ensure secure transmission of study data to the designated central location.
· Ensure data quality and respond to data managers’ queries.
· Respond to questions or address feedback from the study implementation and data management teams.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a social science or health‐related field.
· Minimum of 3 years post-graduation experience collecting quantitative data for health-related surveys.
· Demonstrated experience in collecting quantitative or qualitative among vulnerable or hard to reach populations.
· Knowledge and understanding of public health issues, specifically regarding HIV/AIDS
· Experience in using electronic data collection gadgets
· Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work well in diverse team
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication
· Ability to travel for extended periods of time
· Fluent in both Kiswahili and English
