Introduction
The Medical Laboratory Technologist will ensure provision of effective, efficient, quality analytical Histopathology/cytology services in the Laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Receive Histology and Cytology specimens for analysis and conduct tests as per request;
- Maintain appropriate internal controls on all process;
- Monitor and manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of equipment;
- Perform test with maximum efficiency utilizing reagents appropriately and within expected turn-around time;
- Communicate urgent/critical tests results and maintain appropriate documentation;
- Observe/comply with Health and Safety requirements in the laboratory by maintaining high standards of hygiene
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures; in Histopathology and Cytology
- Participate in the implementation of quality control programmes;
- Carry out routine and specialized analysis of tests as per approved procedures;
Requirements
- Applicants for the position must have a Higher Diploma in Histology /Cytology or Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution.
- S/he must have three (3) years relevant working experience and must be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technician Board.
