The laboratory Technologist will run laboratory processes with outstanding specimen collection and proper documentation for the Cardiovascular study in line with standard operating procedures and good clinical lab practices (GCLP).

Responsibilities

  • Implement and review laboratory policies
  • Implement and adhere to GCLP procedures throughout the conduct of the study
  • Liaise with the TREE administrator to ensure all equipment is serviced in a timely manner
  • Draw samples from study participants
  • Ensure all CD4, CD8 and CBC with differential results are received within 10 days of collections of the specimens
  • Be responsible for storage or specimens
  • Ensure all reagents and available
  • Monitor and record freezer and fridge temperatures 
  • Update the laboratory book the position of samples in the boxes and update the computer database with the same information
  • Assist in conducting weekly laboratory meetings

Requirements

Applicants for the position must have a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory from a recognized institution, S/he must be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technician Board.  Healthcare background or experience working in a hospital environment will be advantageous. Certification in good clinical practice is a must.
