About the role

CCBA is looking for a dynamic Regulatory Affairs Manager who will be responsible for monitoring the regulatory landscape and engaging stakeholders to mitigate business risks and threats. The role holder will support business issue owners such as sustainability Affairs in Government engagement activities with limited supervision.

The level of engagement within and outside of the company as well as the nature and purpose of the interaction would be as follows:

  • Interactions with Government stakeholders at National and County levels with the purpose of forging mutually beneficial relationships and mitigating regulatory risks and threats against the business.
  • Support internal stakeholders who are business issue owners in their engagements with Government at Local levels.

This role will report to the PAC Director.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the PAC Director to identify, prioritise and manage all key regulatory threats facing the business.
  • Track and maintain a detailed awareness of the key regulatory issues facing the business, and support the development of strategic responses as required.
  • Establish partnerships/ relationships with National and County regulatory authorities to deliver quantifiable commercial value.
  • Monitor National and County legislation on an ongoing basis and regulatory requirements identified, prioritized and communicated to business issue owners:
  • Each act affecting business tracked, monitored and reported.
  • All applicable County laws tracked and reported.
  • Proactive support of the mitigation plans.
  • Essential legislative and regulatory information obtained first hand through informal and formal stakeholder networks/relationships and relayed timeously back to the business.
  • Recommend political, business and technical solutions/alternatives to drive and support business responses to regulatory developments.
  • Proactive presence and involvement in industry fora to drive/shape regulatory and legislative developments.
  • Input into the development of Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.
  • Leverage existing relationships to develop partnerships to roll out country specific projects.
  • Promptly inform the business about any regulatory threat and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Proactive identification of key stakeholders in order to mitigate business regulatory risks.

Does this sound like you?

  • Tertiary qualification in law, economics, public policy, or humanities related degree.
  • A minimum 5 years working experience in public policy or similar environment.
  • Strong formal/Informal relationships with government stakeholders in order to monitor and influence legislation affecting the company.
  • Commitment to the core principles of the business as well as enhancing CCBA’s public image in stakeholder fora.
  • Ability to pull key insights from information sources and develop appropriate responses.
  • Ability to manage projects, and oversee others in the management of projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • General understanding of the law and legal processes.
  • Experience in a Corporate Affairs Department will be an added advantage.
