Job Title: Strategy Manager
Department: Strategy and Quality Assurance
Reporting to: Director, Strategy and Quality Assurance
Basic job summary: The Strategy Manager will be tasked with working with the Director, Strategy and Quality Assurance in the formulation and development of the strategic plan, assessing the performance of Strathmore University against set goals and objectives and providing guidance with the processes that improve our effectiveness and ultimately build a sustainable competitive advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategy formulation: Assist the Director of Strategy and Quality Assurance in partnering with the university’s leadership and stakeholders to develop and review the University’s strategy in order to support the attainment of Strathmore’s Vision and Mission.
- Strategy implementation: Working with the relevant stakeholders, design and develop strategy implementation tool in line with identified University’s strategic direction.
- Strategic management:
- Working with the Strategy and quality assurance champions, develop mechanisms to cascade the organization’s strategic objectives to various business units in order to ensure the delivery of the university’s strategic plan.
- Coordinate with the Strategy and Quality assurance representatives across the university and organize training and refresher workshops for staff and other stakeholders on the University strategy.
- Coordinate with the departmental heads to produce quarterly monitoring and evaluation reports on the status of the implementation of the strategy.
- Stakeholder management: Analyze and evaluate scientific data collected from Strathmore customers, departmental data representatives, external data and other stakeholders in order to improve overall decision making, monitoring, and reporting by the university.
- Quality Assurance: In collaboration with the Quality Assurance Manager, assist in the planning and conducting internal quality audits and following up the execution of corrective actions.
- Quality Sensitization: Working with the Strategy and Quality Assurance champions actively create quality awareness in the University with the aim of promoting continuous quality improvement and performance improvement in the University.
- Quality Policies and Procedures: Work with quality champions to ensure proper documentation of policies and procedures by all departments.
- Budgeting: Liaise with SQA champions to ensure that they have developed their departmental work plan and their budgets are aligned to strategy.
- Other duties: Carry out other duties as designated by the Director Strategy and Quality Assurance.
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
Degree in business or related field, MBA preferred or a Bachelor’s degree with minimum of two years in a planning and development office or strategy office.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in business administration, management consulting or strategic planning.

- Aptitude to learn fast, to absorb and integrate new facts and methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills – engage and influence multiple stakeholders to build strong working relationships, with ability to galvanize teams and get buy in across departments.
- Project management – ability to manage multiple projects in a fast moving and ever changing environment with maturity and foresight to cope with input and changes, sometimes at the last minute.
- Inspire others – ability to engage broad range of stakeholders both through compilation of compelling and persuasive presentations and ability to deliver.
- Innovative – creative strategist who is comfortable challenging status quo, brings creativity to problem-solving through the use of innovative frameworks and technological solutions.
- Technically aware – candidates must have worked closely with the technological side and have the capability to use visualisation/Dash boarding tools such as Power Bi, Tableau etc.
