Background
The Kenya COVID-19 Health Emergency Response project is the Phase 1 of the Multi- Phase Programmatic Approach for Strategic Preparedness and Response Program. The proposed project aims to assist Kenyan government in its efforts to prevent, detect and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19 and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness.
Kenya is experiencing a high disease burden in addition to the negative effects of COVID- 19 pandemic among other public health emergencies. There is need to recruit additional surge staff to man the various strategic centers established within the Nairobi
metropolitan, National hospitals, County hospitals, and Ports of Entry that suffer acute staff shortage.
The project seeks to recruit suitable candidates to increase the number of health personnel required to increase staffing levels through screening and disease surveillance at the ports of entry; laboratory testing facilities at the NPHLS, NMS, and selected high risk counties across the country.

SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SAFEGUARD ASSISTANTS- GRM
ASSISTANT- 2 POSITIONS- CHERP
Scope of work
The Social Safeguard assistance will take the lead in responding to all customers complaints, grievances and compliments for the project. Responsible for secondary screening of client’s complaints, manage complaints and recommend referrals of such cases related to CHERP.
Key Responsibilities.
- To set up of structures, procedures and processes by which complaints, queries, clarifications and feedback about a project are responded.
- Provide affected people with avenues for making a complaint or resolving any dispute that may arise during the course of the project implementation.
- Apply appropriate and mutually acceptable redress actions identified and implement to the satisfaction of customer complainants
- Design and develop measures for creating public awareness about the project and its objectives;
- Support project staffs with practical solution/ suggestions that allow them to be more accountable, transparent, and responsive to beneficiaries;
- Collaborate with stakeholders and increase their involvement in the project implementation.
- To timely detect and identify project potential risks and plan for mitigation before they become more widespread
- To receive, register and process confidential incidences for referral and follow up.
- Maintain GRM registers, grievance summary Report, for reporting to the project on a weekly, monthly basis and to WB at quarterly basis.
Qualifications and experience
The Social and Environmental safeguards assistant must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor degree in any of the following; Health Sciences with experience in Health Education and promotion, Communication studies, or social sciences from a recognised institution.
- Must have 2 year working experience in the field of communication, public health or social sciences.
- Must demonstrate Knowledge of Infection, Prevention and Control at work places
- Good report writing and analytical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Ability to show respect and understanding to a customer’s complaints.
Terms of service:
Remuneration Package
Consolidated package for this position is Ksh. 75,000/PM)
Six (6) months’ contracts with possible extension based on performance and duration of COVID-19 pandemic
Reporting arrangements
The social and Environmental safeguards assistant will report to the Project Manager who will assign all roles under the contract.
