Detergents Sales Representative
Our client in the recycling industry is seeking a motivated and results-oriented Detergents Sales Representative to promote and sell detergent products derived from or aligned with sustainable and recycled manufacturing processes. The role involves driving sales growth, expanding market reach, and building strong customer relationships across industrial, commercial, and retail sectors. This job is located in Thika.
Job Purpose
The Detergents Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting, selling, and distributing cleaning products—such as toilet cleaners, dishwashing liquids, surface cleaners, and handwash to households, retail outlets, or commercial businesses. He or She will act as the primary point of contact between the company and the customer, aiming to drive sales revenue growth, expand market share, and maintain high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities of Detergents Sales Representative
- Promoting and selling detergents and cleaning products to prospective customers through retail outlets, distributors, wholesalers, general stockiest or B2B outreach such as Hotels, restaurants, hospitals and learning Institutions.
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities within the recycling, sustainability, and cleaning products markets.
- Building rapport, and maintain relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business.
- Conducting product demonstrations, highlighting key features (e.g., effectiveness, scent, eco-friendliness) and benefits to persuade customers.
- Meeting or exceeding monthly/quarterly sales targets and KPIs set by management.
- Monitoring competitor activity, analyzing market trends, and reporting daily/weekly sales figures and customer feedback to management.
- Handling customer inquiries and ensure timely resolution of complaints.
- Managing the entire sales process, from taking orders to ensuring timely delivery and payment collection.
- Preparing and submitting sales reports, forecasts, and visit reports.
Requirements of Detergents Sales Representative
- Diploma or Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven work experience as a sales representative, for a period of not less than 2 years, preferably in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) or the chemical/cleaning industry.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with detergent components, cleaning applications, and product safety standards.
- Highly motivated, target-driven, resilient, and comfortable with cold-calling or door-to-door sales
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage a territory effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within an assigned territory.
