Number of Post(s): One (1)

Position: Accounts Assistant,

Grade ADAK 9

Salary Scale: 45,570-63,300 p.m


This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer.

(a) Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail assisting in: –

(i) Receipting and banking all revenues/incomes as per laid down procedures.

(ii) carrying out bank reconciliation and ensure timely follow-ups made on any identified discrepancies

(iii) accounting for the petty cash and effective management of imprest system in liaison with manager.

(iv) Reviewing and keying-in vendor (supplier) invoices

(v) Preparing payment source documents (vouchers)

(vi) Writing cheques for all payments for appropriate approval.

(vii) Recording financial transaction into financial system and the vote book system

(viii) Serving as bank agent; keeps custody of cheque books, and bank statements; handles deposits (cheques and cash) in the bank.

(ix) Preparing weekly reports (commitment reports, cash reports, cash projection reports, etc.)

(x) Carrying out reconciliation of petty cash account

(xi) Filling payment vouchers

(xii) Participating in preparation of budgets

(xiii) Perform any other task assigned by the management from time-to- time.

(b) Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to the grade, the candidate must have: –

(i) CPA Part II or Part II of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

(ii) A high degree of integrity and responsibility; and

(iii) a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.

(i) Kenya Revenue Authority

(ii) Higher education loans board

(iii) Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission.

(iv) Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of good Conduct)

(iv) Credit Reference Bureau.
