Syngenta Kenya Pollen Limited – KEPO based in Ruiru is a fully owned subsidiary of Syngenta Seeds B.V, in the horticultural industry engaged in the production of vegetable seeds, rooted and un-rooted cutting for the export market. As a leading player in agribusiness industry, we seek a result-oriented, efficient, and customer-focused individual to fill the position of Production Lead – Operations.

Production Lead – Operations – WL 4A

Reporting to Production Manager – Flowers Department, this position will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring smooth running of all operations for timely production of required quality and quantity of cuttings.

Key responsibilities 

•Coordinate and distribute labour to different sections as per work requirements to meet the job targets.

•Coordinate harvesting of un-rooted cuttings giving priority to destinations, delivery groups and product sensitivity to meet quality, in time and in full.

•Coordinates the process of greenhouse sterilization before start of the season in preparation for planting.

•Coordinate timely making of bunkers, mixing of different media at the appropriate ratios, steaming up to the correct temperatures and leaching the media as per the standards to meet planting deadlines.

•Coordinate media potting & appropriate arrangement depending on planting priorities, spacing and the area availability.

•Coordinate relocation of crops within and to other blocks in accordance with the location planning changes in time and without mixes.

•Support in preparation of all the labour requirements for optimal staffing purposes.

•Work in harmony with the Engineering department to ensure all the work schedules and work interfaces are timely executed and assure good follow-ups.

•Support in preparation of leave plan schedule for the employees for submission to HR for implementation.

•Follows up on labour hours registration and inputs into the system for decision making.

•Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports and disseminates to the relevant stakeholders.

•Analyze the efficiency of operations activities including PRP by collecting data from the work done and comparing with the given targets for decision making.

•Conduct performance appraisal for the operation team and identify areas of improvement for personal development.

•Facilitate the printing and distribution of variety stickers according to destination in time, for smooth harvesting process.

•Distribute the stickers to different areas of production to the junior supervisors

•Train the team to enhance productivity and efficiency.

•Evaluate the team to measure performance and identify areas of improvement

•Ensure compliance with all Phyto-sanitary protocol to achieve high quality cuttings.

•Maintain proper housekeeping in their areas of operation.

•Enforce the HSE rules and regulations and champions the implementation of Syngenta HSE policy and standards.

•Any other tasks and projects as may be allocated from time to time.

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualification and competencies:

•Degree Agriculture or Horticulture, master’s degree will be an added advantage

•Must have at least 5 year’s relevant work experience

•Ability to plan and provide labour to the deliver products in defined quantities, quality time and cost

•Demonstrates openness in communication to others and make timely communication

•Track record for building trust and giving reliable and correct information

•Data entry and analytical skills with progressive analytical and reporting tools.

•Good interpersonal and communication skills.

•Strong supervisory and managerial skills with a growth mindset.

•Proactiveness in taking precautionary measures in the quality control and quality assurance process

•Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office with excellent organizational skills.

•Must possess a proven track record of leading teams with good problem-solving skills.
