Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

Academic Qualifications

A Diploma Education Certificate or its equivalent from a recognized institution

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies

1. Occupational Trade Test III Certificate;
2. a valid driving license free from any current endorsements(s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive;
3. certificate in a supervisory course from a recognized institution;
4. A defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association of
5. Kenya (AA) or its equivalent qualification from any other recognized institution;
6. A Certificate of Good Conduct (renewable after two (2) years);
7. A First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. Johns Ambulance or any other recognized institution;Previous relevant work experience required
   1. At least served in the grade of Driver for at least four (4) years;
   2. An accident-free driving period of 5 years.

Responsibilities:

The Drivers are responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are maintained in good order to ensure smooth mobility of employees of the Fund.

Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

1. Driving the Fund vehicle as authorized;
2. Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
3. Recognizing and reporting mechanical defaults of the vehicles;
4. Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
5. Monitoring and reporting expiry of insurance policies for motor vehicles;
6. Preparing and submitting reports on transport when need arises; and
7. Ensuring safety of passengers and/or goods therein.

Financial Responsibility:

1. Endeavoring to maintain reasonable costs in the management of transport;
2. Responsible for Monitoring of fuel utilization and fuel cards of the assigned vehicle.

Responsibility for physical assets around the area of work:

1. Responsible for the assigned Institution vehicles.
2. Responsible for office assets assigned.
3. Responsible for fuel card and motor vehicle documents

 Problem Solving

The job holder will be required to solve the following problems:

1. Vehicle breakdowns;
2. Vehicle insurance matters; 
3. Security of fuel cards and other motor vehicle documents;
4. Safety of the institution vehicleThe job holder will need to understand the following information to discharge his/her mandate Detailed verbal instructions or requests from various departments;
   1. The available vehicles Universities Fund;
   2. Traveling logistics where the vehicles are in use;
5. Communication

Works predominantly in the office environment with occasional travels locally.
