Salary scale: Ksh.115, 290 x 5,770 – 121,060 x 6,050 – 127,110 x 6,240 – 133,350 x
6,420 – 139,770 x 6,610 – 146,380 x 6, 790 – 153,170 p.m.
Terms of Service: Contract
Director will be responsible to the Chief Officer in charge of Youth and Sports for the administration and coordination of sports programmes and activities in the County.
Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Coordinating design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of
sports programmes and activities’ ;
(ii) Liaising with relevant stakeholders in mobilizing resources for sports
programmes and activities;
(iii) Coordinating research and innovation in sports;
(iv) Ensuring annual work plans, procurement plans, and budgeting for the
department is undertaken;
(v) Coordinating Cash Awards and Honours Scheme for sports persons,
sports persons and veterans;
(vi) Mainstreaming of sports at local, national and international levels;
(vii) Liaising with stakeholder in the development of sports infrastructure; and
(viii) Ensuring efficient staff management, training and development.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
(i) Served in the grade of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Sports or in a
relevant and comparable position in a busy organization for a minimum
period of three (3) years;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Physical Education,
Sports Science or Leisure and Recreation Management from a recognized
institution;
OR
(iii) Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in
Sports Administration and Management or equivalent qualification from
a recognized institution;
(iv) Master’s degree in Social Sciences of the following disciplines: Physical
Education, Recreation Management, Exercise and Sports Science, Social
Sciences, Management and Administration or equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution;

(v) a certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not
less than six (6) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;
(vi) Certificate in Computer Application:
(vii) Demonstrated merit and ability as a reflection in work performance and
results.
